Idemitsu Initiates Blue Carbon Business Exploration with Hatch Blue in Japan, Concurrently Investing in the “Blue Revolution”

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd., (a holding company of Idemitsu Americas Holdings Corporation, located in Japan; hereinafter referred to as “Idemitsu”) will commence joint studies with Hatch Blue (hereinafter referred to as “Hatch”) starting from August of this year, through Idemitsu Americas Holding Corporation, with the aim of establishing a blue carbon business in Japan. This initiative aims to contribute to regional revitalization in Japan through the development of low-carbon and decarbonization projects and the acquisition of expertise. In parallel with the joint studies, Idemitsu invests in the “Blue Revolution Fund,” a fund established by Hatch.

IAH, Idemitsu, and Anaconda Begins Study on a Large-scale Organic Waste Composting Business

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (head office: Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter, “Idemitsu”), one of Japan’s leading producers and suppliers of energy, along with its wholly owned subsidiary Idemitsu Americas Holdings Corporation (hereinafter, “IAH”), based in San Jose, California, U.S., and in collaboration with Canadian start-up Anaconda Systems Limited (hereinafter “Anaconda”), began a study in June 2023 aimed at establishing a large-scale compost production business using organic waste as a raw material. The business will utilize technology to compost organic waste in a short period of within ten days, aiming for large volume, exceptionally cost competitive waste treatment and compost production.

Idemitsu launches feasibility study into clean hydrogen production from waste in Japan

 

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd., one of Japan’s leading producers and suppliers of energy (headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director, President and CEO: Shunichi Kito; hereinafter “Idemitsu”), has launched a feasibility study of clean hydrogen production in Japan generated from waste, including municipal waste, in April. The goal is to launch a first hydrogen production facility around 2030 capable of processing 200-300 tons of waste per day.
